Fundamental Neume Table
The Fundamental Neume Table
To create a fundamental neume automatically, select some simple notes (up to 9) within a measure using Finale's Selection Tool, and then use the Neume tool. The shape of the neumes only depends upon the melodic movement.
To produce neume variants such as liquescence, you shall press W ("Windows" key), Shift or Alt simultaneaously. This is achieved while invoking the Tool menu either from the Medieval menu, from the tool palette or with the keyboard command Ctrl + J. (We strongly recommend to use the keyboard command!)
Medieval 2 can recognize over 200 forms of neumes, and below is the full table:
